Project management. Planned and led diverse range of multi-year projects. Responsibilities included developing project approach, monitoring progress against key deliverables, managing staff and financial resources, and managing mid-stream adjustment and realignment.
Program assessment. Assessed economic development and infrastructure rehabilitation programs for CARE International and United Nations Office for Project Services, in South Sudan and Somalia. Analyzed project documentation and conducted in-depth interviews in the field with military and civil authorities, farmers, traders and cooperative members. Authored reports appraising program strategy and implementation. Report recommendations formed basis for program hand-over to local authorities

- Aref Adamali works as a regional economist for the World Bank Group, working out of Nairobi and Istanbul. He spent 5 years before this designing and manufacturing furniture. Having previously advised governments and businesses in developing economies on competitiveness and innovation, he applied some of this same advice to his family’s business. He realized that it is harder to implement good advice than to give it. So he is now back to just giving it.
